Most Powerful Beliefs List
Powerful beliefs. We all need them. They are the fertile ground you can return to when your inspiration, energy, or hope runs dry. They are the reminders of your Truth, when the voices inside start tempting you with lies. They are your personal ‘best self’ principles. Memorize them to share with others, utilize them in every pep talk, employ them to get you through the rough patches. Believe in them because they are your most powerful beliefs.
We all have our own demons to fight. It’s important that your “Most Powerful Beliefs serve your unique needs and effectively speak to and counter-act your personal “life-sucks/i suck” voices. Use these powerful beliefs as armor when you do battle with your fears and insecurities.
Here are mine. Feel free to borrow or make your own list.
1. God is good all the time– even when my life’s circumstances or personal mood beg to differ.
2. The only failure is quitting. Keep your eye on your biggest dream. Manuever around every obstacle with your vision set ahead. Be willing to “fail” a thousand times on your way. You will get there, No Doubts.
3. There is always, ALWAYS, something to be grateful for– even if it’s just the way the mailman so nicely wraps your mail with a rubber band.
4. Joy, significance and security come from the inside out. If you believe it happens in reverse, you will spend your lifetime flailing and still come up empty.
5. Life is too short to spend in a rut. The greatest grievance is to go through all your years without ever knowing what life could be if you lived it from your passion.
6. The answer to most everything is love. Love– either in forgiveness (of self or others), acceptance (of current situation or of your own limitations), or courage (to grow, be vulnerable, humble your pride, or stretch your idea of who you are and what you are capable of).
Tips on creating your own Most Powerful Beliefs List
- Look at what you have already gone through and what you learned once you arrived on the other side. What hard won wisdom is now yours thanks to the adversity you have overcome in the past?
- Think about Oprah. Every month in her mag she ends with one page of “What I Know for Sure”. What things do you know for sure?
- If you are a fan of the Bible, what are your favorite versus?
- If you have a collection of favorite quotes, is there a common theme that runs through them? (i.e. do you have a 1000s quotes about inner beauty? Are you moved by motivation? do you find yourself drawn to the irony? humor? are you empowered by words that speak against fears? loneliness?)
- Think of a woman or man you greatly admire. If they created a “Most Powerful Beliefs” list, what do you think would be on it?
- Remember there is no set number of beliefs your list has to include. Currently mine has 6, but your list my have 100 or just 1. Be confident in what ever number you arrive at. This is your M.P.B. List, and yours alone.
